FLEXI-cross Use Case 2 live trial

From 6 to 9 May 2025, the FLEXI-Cross project, funded by the Horizon Europe programme, successfully conducted a large-scale demonstration at the Ormenio Border Crossing Point between Greece and Bulgaria.

Led by WINGS ICT Solutions, in collaboration with KEMEA and the Hellenic Police, the demonstration introduced advanced, intelligent procedures to optimize and secure the road border-crossing process.

Key features demonstrated include:

  • Real-time data analysis from On-Board Units (OBUs)

  • Automated vehicle inspection using AI and video analytics

  • A new mobile app for citizens, enabling two-way communication with border officers

  • A visualization dashboard for detecting unauthorized incidents and predicting security threats

  • Seamless integration with national border control systems

These innovations aim to:

  • Enhance detection and incident response capabilities

  • Improve the traveler experience by reducing wait times

  • Modernize EU border control infrastructure

This event marked a major milestone for the project and demonstrated how Flexi-Cross contributes to building a smarter, safer, and more efficient border ecosystem across Europe.
